Women's soccer plays to a 1-1 draw at Carroll

Waukesha, Wis. – The Thunder women's soccer team tied Carroll University 1-1 in two overtimes tonight in a CCIW match. Each team scored a first-half goal to account for the final score.

Anna Saunders scored for the Thunder in the 27th minute to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers tied the match at 1-1 in the 35th minute on a goal by Carly Oboikovitz. The Carroll goal was assisted by Rachel Van Sluys. Wheaton out-shot the Pioneers 7-1 in the first half, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal.

Wheaton continued to maintain offensive pressure on Carroll in the second half with a 6-1 advantage in shots, including a 4-0 edge in shots on goal.

Wheaton tallied one shot in the overtime, coming in the first overtime. The Pioneers had a shot attempt in the second overtime session. Neither team put a shot on goal on overtime periods as the match ended in a draw.

Wheaton goalkeeper Kathryn McGregor played all 110 minutes in the Thunder net, allowing one goal. Carroll goalkeeper Christina O'Block made seven saves and allowed just the first-half goal.

Wheaton registered 14 shots in the match, including eight shots on goal. Carroll attempted three shots on the night, with one shot on goal. Wheaton was awarded 11 corner kicks in the match and Carroll had no corner kicks.

The Thunder has a record of 5-4-3 on the season and 2-0-1 in CCIW play. Carroll is now 8-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference action. Wheaton travels to Elmhurst on Wednesday for a 5:00 p.m. CCIW matchup with the Bluejays.
