Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder volleyball team traveled to Augustana College on Tuesday night for a CCIW matchup with the Vikings. Augustana emerged with a 3-1 victory against Wheaton. The Thunder won the first set 25-19. Augustana withstood a Wheaton rally in the second set to win 25-20. The Vikings closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set and a a 25-10 win in the decisive fourth set.
Madeline Moore led the Thunder with nine kills in the match and she added nine digs.
Emily Potts and
Ellie Brown each collected six kills. Junior setter
Kelly Thornton registered 13 assists and
Alecia Funk added 12 assists.
Brown added two service aces for the Thunder and
Jessica Bosse (PICTURED ABOVE) led Wheaton with 29 digs
Cassie Swiderek added 18 digs and
Jackie Boulris had 16 digs.
Emily Westermeyer led the Vikings with 11 kills and Taryn VanEarwage had 10 kills. McKenzie Zambrano led the hosts with 28 assists and Claire Martin contributed 32 digs.
Wheaton wraps up the regular season on October 31 when Carthage visits King Arena at 7:00 p.m. for the CCIW finale.
