Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton wrestling opened up with the first day of action at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) "National Duals". The Thunder opened with a 27-16 victory against Millikin in the first round. Wheaton's win against the Big Blue marked the program's first victory in its three trips to the "National Duals".
Top-ranked Wartburg defeated the Thunder 37-2 in the second round and Wheaton rebounded with a 30-16 victory against Mount Union in the consolation bracket. The Thunder lost a narrow 21-20 decision to #13-ranked New York University in the second round of the consolation round to bow out of the tournament.
