Wheaton Wrestling hosts the 84th Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational this weekend

Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder wrestling program will host teams from around the country this weekend when action begins at the 84th Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational. The Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational is the oldest and largest small-college wrestling tournament in the country, dating back to the original Wheaton Invitational in 1938. This year there are 30 teams from 11 states filling King Arena, with more than 250 wrestlers scheduled to compete.

Of the 30 teams competing this weekend, seven teams are ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Tournament Rankings: Roanoke (2nd); UW-La Crosse (4th); North Central (6th); UW-Whitewater (12th); Arcadia (T17th); UW-Eau Claire (21st); Case Western Reserve (T23rd).

The 30 teams scheduled to participate in the 2026 Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational are: Alma; Arcadia; Augustana; Buena Vista; Case Western; University of Chicago; Concordia (Moorhead); Concordia Wisconsin; Cornell; Elmhurst; Heidelberg; John Carroll; Messiah; Millikin; Mount St. Joseph; Mount Union; MSOE; Nebraska Wesleyan; North Central; Ohio Northern; Ozarks; Roanoke; Rhode Island College; UW-Eau Claire; UW-La Crosse; UW-Platteville; UW-Stevens Point; UW-Whitewater; Wheaton; Wilkes.
