Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Wheaton women's soccer team (3-6-0) earned its second-consecutive victory with a 1-0 win at Calvin College (5-4-1) on Tuesday afternoon.
Wheaton controlled the pace of the match in the first half, possessing the ball for much of the first 45 minutes of the contest. Wheaton out-shot the Knights 7-2 in the first half, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The matchup evened out in the second half, with both teams having opportunities. Calvin lost possession of the ball deep into its half of the field and Wheaton pushed the ball forward as Thunder freshman
Autumn Rasmussen (PICTURED LEFT) went past the Knights' defense and had a one-on-one opportunity against Calvin goalkeeper Brianna Koehn. Rasmussen put the ball into the lower corner of the net, to Koehn's left, to give Wheaton the 1-0 lead at the 58:55 mark of the match. Rasmussen's goal was her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Calvin attempted six shots in the second half, including three shots on goal and Wheaton had five shots with three shots on goal.

Kathryn McGregor made four saves for the Thunder in recording her first collegiate shutout. McGregor stopped one Calvin shot in the first half and she recorded three saves in the second half.
Koehn made seven saves for Calvin, allowing just Rasmussen's second-half goal. The Knights' netminder made five saves in the first half and she stopped two Thunder shots in the second half.
Wheaton tallied 12 shots in the match, including eight shots on goal. Calvin registered eight shots in the contest, with four shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded seven corner kicks in the match, including four in the first half. Calvin had just one corner kick on the afternoon, it came in the second half.
Wheaton will open conference play on Saturday at North Park University at 5:00 p.m.
