Wheaton, Ill.
- The Thunder women's soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans on Saturday night at Joe Bean Stadium. Two first half goals proved to be enough for the Thunder as the peppered the Oshkosh goal with 25 shots and improved to 2-6 on the season. The Titans fall to 5-4 with the loss.

Wheaton outshot UW-Oshkosh 25-6 on the night with a 15-5 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton attempted seven corner kicks while not surrendering any from the Titans. Kathryn McGregor made four saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of action. Jessica Galason allowed two goals and made 15 saves for the Titans.

22158The Thunder wasted no time in putting Galason to action when Mary Pettit's header forced Galason to make the first of her seven first half saves just 90 seconds into the match. Wheaton's early pressure finally paid off in the 28th minute when Chelsea Gnan (PICTURED RIGHT) scored off an Anna Saunders throw-in with a right-footed shot from near the top of the 18-yard box.

Wheaton doubled its lead at the 42:30 mark when Sarah Frey scored her first goal of the season to give the Thunder a 2-0 lead. That lead would be shortlived when the Titans were the benefactor of a tackle in the box that led to Alek Kleis converting a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season to cut the lead to 2-1 at the intermission.

Early pressure from the Thunder forced Galason to make several saves in the opening minutes of the second half. Wheaton forced Galason into making eight second half saves with six of the eight coming in the first 20 minutes of the second half as the Thunder coasted to the victory.

Wheaton will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Thunder travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to face the Calvin Knights for a 4 PM Eastern kickoff.
