GAME STATS Lisle, Ill. - The Thunder men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw at Benedictine University on Wednesday night at the Lisle Sports Complex. The draw is Wheaton's second in the last three days following Monday's 2-2 draw at Aurora. Wheaton is now 1-4-3 on the season while the Eagles move to 4-3-1.

Wheaton outshot the Eagles 15-10 on the night while surrendering a 7-4 edge to the Eagles in shots on goal. Wheaton's Andrew Beard made six saves, four in the second half, and allowed one goal in 110 minutes between the posts. Benedictine's Antonio Marti-Polo made three saves and allowed one goal.

Scoring came early in Wednesday night's game when the Eagles struck first in the 20th minute of action. Benedictine's Nick Kapetanos scored the game's first goal at the 19:20 mark to give the Eagles the first lead. Wheaton struck back less than four minutes later on Ayo Agunbidade's first goal of the season to the action at 1-1.

Wheaton peppered the Eagles goal in the minutes following the goal forcing Marti-Polo to make two saves and Jacob Kapitaniuk nearly gave the Thunder the lead when his shot rattled the crossbar at the 33:52 mark and then again at the 41:16 mark.

Benedictine pressured the Wheaton goal throughout the second half, forcing Beard to make four saves but failing to find the deciding goal. Near the end of the first overtime, Kapetanos threatened to end things with a last second shot that was turned away by Beard. Neither team put a shot on frame in the final overtime period.

Wheaton is off until next Tuesday evening when the Thunder return to Joe Bean Stadium to host Lake Forest College in a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament First Round match. Wheaton won that match-up 3-2 on Reed Bartley's last minute goal. Kickoff against the Foresters is scheduled for 7 PM.
