Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team opened up its 2016 CCIW schedule on Thursday night with a 9-0 victory against the Big Blue. The Thunder will remain in conference play on Saturday with a matchup at North Central at 10:30 a.m. and the Thunder will return to Wheaton later in the day to host Illinois Wesleyan at 5:00 p.m. on the Wheaton campus.

Thunder junior Katie Park earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory today against Millikin's Morgan Bettner at number-one singles. Emily Jones picked up the 6-0, 6-1 victory at number-two singles against Paige Bequette. Miranda Kay was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at number-three singles in a matchup with Kelly Ruane. Kirstie White picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at number-four singles against Millikin's Melissa Donovan. Emma Westwick rounded out Wheaton's singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number-six singles against Madeline Delano.

Park and Jones teamed up a for an 8-6 victory at number-one doubles against the Millikin tandem of Angell/Donovan. Kay and Magnuson earned an 8-1 victory at number-two doubles versus Millikin's team of Bettner and Ruane. Wheaton's number-three doubles team of Kate Booker and Claire Browning picked up the 8-1 victory against Bequette and Delano.
