Schaumburg, Ill. - A 16-hit outburst led the Thunder baseball team to a 10-6 nonconference victory over Dominican University on Tuesday night. On a night with the wind blowing in at Boomers Stadium, Wheaton posted its second-highest hit total this season to improve to 19-11 on the year. Dominican falls to 11-16 on the season. Wheaton will return to Lee Pfund Stadium on Friday night to open a key three-game series with North Central at 6 pm.
Wheaton tallied its 10 runs on 16 hits with two errors. Dominican plated six runs with eight hits and one error. Thunder freshman
Michael McCraith earned his first collegiate victory with a four-strikeout performance over three innings.

Wheaton opened up an early 6-0 lead including a three-run edge after the top of the first inning.

Brett Albaugh padded Wheaton's lead in the top of the fourth inning when he game around to score from second base on an infield error. A two-run single by Laucella in the top of the fifth inning provided Wheaton's six-run cushion.
Dominican took advantage of a Thunder error to push across five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and cut Wheaton's lead to one. Wheaton would answer quickly in the top of the sixth inning when

Evan Ogden with an RBI single. RBI singles by Laucella and Morrison pushed Wheaton's edge to 9-5.
A Stars run in the bottom of the sixth inning was answered in the top of the eight inning when Laucella reached on a two-out hit by pitch. Pinch runner
