Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's basketball team will host the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament for the second consecutive year as the Thunder will host the four-team event this weekend in King Arena. The winner of the CCIW Tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.Wheaton is the number-one seed in the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Elmhurst on Friday February 26 at 7:00 p.m. Friday's first semifinal matchup will feature second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan against third-seed North Central
at 5:00 p.m. The 2016 CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament Championship Game will feature the semifinal winners in Wheaton's King Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday February 27.Ticket prices are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors and youth/students, and children under three-years-old will be admitted for free. Students with valid CCIW school ID will be admitted free of charge. As a CCIW Championship event CCIW parent passes, faculty/staff ID's, or Thunder season passes will not be honored.Wheaton (20-5, 11-3 CCIW) won its eighth CCIW Championship this season, finishing as Co-Champions with Illinois Wesleyan, and will be hosting the CCIW Tournament for the fourth time in program history. The Thunder also hosted the tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2015, winning the tournament title all three seasons. Wheaton is making its 12th appearance in the tournament, which is tied for the most tournament berths in the 14-year history of the tournament. The Thunder has compiled an 11-7 all-time record in the tournament, winning the tournament championship in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2015.
