Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory against North Central on Wednesday night in a CCIW Tournament Semifinal match. Wheaton advances to host the CCIW Tournament Championship Game on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Thunder will face Illinois Wesleyan in Saturday's Championship Game. The Titans tied Carroll 1-1 through two overtimes in their semifinal matchup on Thursday. IWU advanced to the Championship Game with a 4-3 advantage in the penalty kick shootout.
Madison Peebles scored the for the Thunder in the 15th minute as she put the ball in the back of the net off of an
Anna Saunders corner kick to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead.
Sarah Van Wingerden increased Wheaton's lead to 2-0 in the 21
st minute when she collected a
Suzanne Kimble deflection and scored her second goal of the year. Wheaton led the Cardinals 2-0 at halftime.
Autumn Rasmussen extended Wheaton's lead to 3-0 in the 81
st minute when she scored from three yards off the goal thanks to a well-placed pass from
Sarah Frey.
Sammy Nishiyama accounted for the 4-0 final score in the 85
th minute when she tallied the final goal of the night on a
Hannah Cockrum assist.
Kathryn McGregor recorded her seventh complete shutout of the season as she made five saves in 90 minutes of work in the net. North Central netminder Nicki Seiton made six saves and allowed four goals in her 90 minutes of action.
Wheaton recorded 19 shots in the match, including 11 shots on goal. North Central had 10 shots in the match, including five shots on goal.
