Women's soccer extends its win-streak with a 2-0 road win at North Central

Naperville, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team picked up its fourth-consecutive victory on Saturday with a 2-0 win at North Central College (4-8, 3-3 CCIW). The win marked Wheaton's eighth victory in its last nine matches; and improves the Thunder to 9-7 on the season and 6-1 in CCIW play.

Wheaton capitalized on two goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation to earn the victory at North Central today. The Thunder dominated play in the first half of today's match with a 10-3 advantage in shots, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. The matchup was tied 0-0 at the halftime intermission.

Morgan Whitman broke the scoreless tie with her second goal in as many matches at the 76:53 mark of the match. Sarah Van Wingerden dribbled down the right side of the field and her 10-yard pass found Whitman, who put the ball in the back of the net for the guests'. Madison Peebles extended Wheaton's lead to 2-0 when she collected a rebound off of deflection that originated on a Thunder free kick, with an assist from Mary Pettit. Peebles' goal accounted for the 2-0 final score in favor of Wheaton. Wheaton held a 7-1 advantage in shots during the second half.

Thunder goalkeeper Kathryn McGregor made two saves in 90 minutes of work to record the shutout in the Wheaton net. North Central netminder Nicki Seiton made four saves and allowed two goals on the afternoon for the hosts.

Wheaton owned a 17-4 advantage in shots today, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Each team was awarded one corner kick in the match.   

Thunder will conclude the CCIW regular season schedule on Wednesday night when Millikin visits Joe Bean Stadium at 4:30 p.m. for "Senior Night".
