Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Thunder wrestling team resumed the 2015-16 campaign on Friday with competition at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals. The highly competitive and selective event features 24 NCAA Division III wrestling programs from around the country. Jared Fekete and Frank Aiello each posted a 3-0 record for the Thunder. 
The Thunder competed against SUNY-Cortland on Friday morning as the Red Dragons earned a 31-13 victory against Wheaton. Junior Jared Fekete (PICTURED RIGHT) won a 9-0 major decision at 157-pounds against SUNY-Cortland's Adrian Berry. Thunder junior Frank Aiello picked up a 5-2 decision against Brian Vutianitis and freshman Max Gierke earned a victory by forfeit at heavyweight. In the consolation round on Friday afternoon Wheaton lost a 27-19 meeting with Johnson & Wales (R.I.). Fekete was again victorious at 157-pounds as he picked up a win via a pin at 4:17 against Joey Gaccione of Johnson & Wales. Frank Aiello won a 12-4 major decision against Ryan Schaal. Logan Walkup earned a 5-3 decision in overtime against Johnson & Wales' Dae'Sean Brown at 184-pounds and Gierke won by fall at the 3:16 mark of his match at 285-pounds against Jonah Aurelio. Wheaton wrapped up its participation in the tournament on Friday evening in a matchup against United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). USMMA topped the Thunder 18-16 as the Mariners' Brandon Joest won a 5-3 decision at 285-pounds to help USMMA rally for the victory. Fekete earned his third win of the day in a 4-1 decision over the Mariners' Erik Beshada at 157-pounds. Frank Aiello won an 8-0 major decision against against Matt Hiltz at 165-pounds and his brother Stephen Aiello picked up a 6-1 decision against Blake Bunce. Walkup earned a win with a pin at the 2:24 mark of his matchup at 184-pounds against Dan Dubinsky. The National Duals even also hosts an open tournament. Thunder sophomore Caleb O'Dell finished thid in the open tournament at 174-pounds. O'Dell won a 10-6 decision against Mount Union's Brandon Parker in the first round of the open tournament and he won in a fall (6:22) Keiondre Wedderburn of Ellsworth Community College in the second round. O'Dell also won by fall against Brian Cristion of Cornell (Iowa) at the 3:31 mark of their quarterfinal matchup. Tony Rodriguez of Indiana Tech topped O'Dell in a 9-3 decision in the semifinals of the open session. The Thunder sophomore won a convincing 12-0 major decision against Noah Edwards in the third-place match.
