Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's and women's swim teams wrapped up a busy weekend of action on Saturday by hosting Augustana, North Central and Illinois Institute of Technology for a quad meet at Chrouser Natatorium. The Thunder women emerged victorious with 156 team points. The Wheaton men finished in second place in a tight contest, finishing one point behind Augustana's 152 team points. Wheaton opened the weekend by dropping a dual meet to NAIA #1-ranked Olivet Nazarene on Friday night.
Wheaton won 10 events in Saturday's quad meet with 
Chris Dingfield and 
Jacob Clement each winning two apiece. Wheaton's lone relay victory came in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay with Sarah Oldach, Hannah Rueger, Jennifer Barich and Sarah Hunt combined to touch the wall in 1:42.28 and narrowly edge Augustana .33 seconds.
Clement won the first of his two events by claiming the 50-yard freestyle with a dominant time of 21.28 seconds to secure a margin of victory over 1.33 seconds. Clement also earned a nearly three-second victory in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 1:59.31. 
Chris Dingfield earned a close victory of .15 seconds with a time of 2:00.83 in the 200-yard individual medley. Dingfield was also victorious in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.89.
Jack O'Connor and 
Daniel Deysher each won an event on the men's side. O'Connor won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48.15 to edge teammate 
Chris Szymczak by three seconds. Deysher won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.50 seconds.
Nicole Eklund won the women's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.50 to lead a sweep of the top three spots in the event. Emily Shupp was second in 1:03.47 and Sarah Oldach finished third in 1:04.09. Hannah Rueger won the 100-yard freestyle with a two-second margin of victory in 55.37 seconds. Erin Bagley earned a convincing win in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:13.58, almost four seconds ahead of the field.
On the diving board, Wheaton swept the 3-meter diving competition. Sarah Neubaum won the women's competition with a score of 313.85 and 
Dylan Sosso won the men's contest with a score of 427.75.
Wheaton won just a handful of events in Friday night's dual meet against top-ranked Olivet Nazarene. Sarah Coley (1:01.15) and 
Jacob Clement (50.63) swept the 100-yard butterfly. Erin Bagley (1:08.07) and 
Elliot Penson (1:00.02) swept the 100-yard breaststroke. The Wheaton men fell by a score of 126-70 while the women dropped a 126-67 contest.
Wheaton will next be in action next weekend when the CCIW Championships kick off with the diving competition at Illinois Wesleyan before swimming events are contested February 11-13 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
