Claremont, Calif. – The Wheaton women's basketball team closed out its two-game trip to California with an 88-50 victory at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton, ranked 10
th in this week's
WBCA Division III Top-25 Poll and 12
th in the
D3hoops.com Top-25, improves to 5-1 on the season. The Thunder will return to action on Dec. 11 with a matchup at University of Dubuque.
Wheaton jumped out to a 15-2 lead against the Sagehens today and never trailed in the matchup. The Thunder led 21-7 at halftime and owned a 42-20 lead at the halftime intermission.

Senior
Ellie Zeller led the Thunder with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Zeller led all players with nine rebounds and she added four steals with three assists. Senior center
Hannah Considine (PICTURED LEFT) shot 5-of-7 from the field to score 13 points and she added five rebounds. Sophomore
Kelly Lawson (PICTURED RIGHT) scored 10 points and distributed 10 points.
Mel Bremhorst added eight points for the Thunder and
Katie McDaniels dished out seven assists with four steals.
Sarah Drury Bremhorst and
Maggie Dansdill each grabbed six rebounds for the Thunder.
Wheaton posted a 46.7% (35-of-75) field goal percentage, including 38.1% (8-of-21) from three-point range. The Thunder shot 62.5% (10-of-16) at the free throw line and the Sagehens had a 53.3 (8-of-15) effort at the charity stripe.
Pomona-Pitzer shot 29.2% (19-of-65) from the field, including a 21.1% (4-of-19) effort behind the three-point arc. Wheaton out-rebounded the hosts 54-36 in the contest. The Thunder owned an 18-11 edge on the offensive glass, helping Wheaton to out-score the Sagehens 22-3 in second-chance points.
Melissa Hooke and Basha Brulee-Wills led Pomona-Pitzer with nine points apiece in the game. Brulee-Wills grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the hosts.
