Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder wrestling team dropped a 36-7 decision to Elmhurst College on Friday night in King Arena in the first dual match of the 2015-16 season for the Thunder.
Wheaton's first win of the night was a 13-4 major decision for junior Jared Fekete against Elmhurst's Nick Dinardo at 157-pounds. Fekete led Dinardo 6-0 at the end of the second period and the Thunder junior utilized two takedowns and a reversal in the third period to out-score DiNardo 7-4 in the final period for the win by major decision.
Wheaton's other victory tonight came from sophomore Tim Blickle at 184-pounds. Blickle defeated Elmhurst's Bobby Schillinger in a 6-0 decision. Blickle scored a takedown in the first period against Schillinger and he registered a reversal in the second period as he headed into the third period with a 4-0 lead. He added another takedown in the third period to account for the 6-0 win.
The Thunder will travel to the Concordia Open in Mequon, Wisconsin next Saturday.
