Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2014 Spring schedule on Saturday with a 7-2 loss at Kalamazoo College. Wheaton, ranked 17th in the most recent ITA Central Region Division III rankings is now 9-3 on the year. Kalamazoo, 15th in the Central Region, improves to 3-1 overall.
Wheaton's win in singles play on Saturday came in a 6-3, 6-1 victory for
Lauren Schlabach at number-three singles. The Thunder number-one doubles tandem of
Sarah Ray and
Julie Buursma picked up an 8-5 win over the Hornets' team of Sarah Woods and Jenna Riehl.
Wheaton will return to action on March 12th in Orlando, Fla., when the Thunder faces St. Mary's College (Ind.) to begin the program's three-game Spring Break trip.
