Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder swim and dive teams split a dual match on Saturday afternoon against Calvin College. Wheaton's women won 189-111 while Calvin took the men's dual 157-105. Both Calvin and Wheaton won the men's and women's championships at their respective conference meets last year.
The Thunder women continued their strong relay performances with victories in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Wheaton's medley relay team of
Erin Bagley,
Kayla Roberson,
Kirsty Nitz and
Kelly Ormond put won by over four seconds with a time of 1:49.06. The freestyle relay team of Ormond,
Sarah Coley, Roberson and
Katie Cialkowski were victorious by six seconds with a time of 3:39.51.
Bagley was also victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.00), 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.83) and 200-yard individual medley (2:13.37). Nitz took first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (57.96) 50-yard freestyle (24.12) and 100-yard butterfly (57.39).
Hanna Allen won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:18.66.
Katie Deysher won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.76.
Kayla Roberson claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:15.66.
Abby Prince earned a victory in the one-meter dive and established a new school record in the process. Prince totaled a score of 421.71 to top the school record score of 385.55 posted by Lori Marion in 1986. The score also qualified Prince for the NCAA Regional Diving Meet to be held at University of Chicago in February.
Will McCauley won both the 500-yard (4:48.44) and 1,000-yard (9:59.25) freestyle.
Jacob Clement won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:45.95.
Jack Raymond took the 50-yard freestyle sprint in 21.88.
Wheaton will next be in action on Friday when the Thunder take on UW-Milwaukee in a dual meet.
