#7-Wheaton women's soccer earns a share of the CCIW Title with a 4-0 victory against Augustana

The Wheaton women's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory at home on Wednesday night against Augustana (11-4-2, 4-2-0 CCIW). Wheaton, ranked seventh in this week's NSCAA Division III Women's Soccer Top-25, is now 15-1-2 on the year and 5-0-1 in CCIW play.

15200Tonight's victory gives the Thunder a share of the 2014 CCIW Championship. Wheaton will conclude the regular season on Saturday night at North Park and can win the conference championship outright with a win against the Vikings. Tonight's win also assures Wheaton one of the top two seeds in the upcoming CCIW Tournament, which means the Thunder will host a CCIW Tournament Semifinal match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Wheaton's semifinal opponent will be determined following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday.

Junior Ally Witt (PICTURED LEFT) gave Wheaton the 1-0 lead tonight with her team-high 13th goal of the year in the 37th minute of the match. Anna Burnidge pushed the ball into the 18-yard box and passed off to Anna Seabolt who connected with an assist to Witt who put the ball into the net on a shot from about 10 yards out. Witt's goal put Wheaton up 1-0 at halftime.
 
In the 55th minute of the match, Wheaton possessed the ball following a Vikings turnover and Bailey Wysocki passed the ball to Kristin Rauh who netted her eighth goal of the year for a 2-0 Wheaton lead. In the 70th minute Sarah Guidera passed to Wysocki on the near side and Wysocki put the ball into the net off of a shot at the far post that caught Augustana netminder Margaret Williams off-balance. Sydney Sharkey scored Wheaton's fourth goal of the night in the 71st minute as she put the ball into net off of an assist from her sister Alexa Sharkey.
 
Wheaton goalkeeper Kelsey Graham made six saves, with no goals allowed in 76 minutes of action. Abbey Fuster worked the final 14 minutes in the Thunder net, with no goals allowed. Williams made nine saves and allowed four goals in 90 minutes of work in the Vikings' net.

Wheaton out-shot the Vikings 18-10 tonight and the Thunder owned a 13-6 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton attempted eight corner kicks in the match and Augustana was awarded two.
