Decatur, Ill.
- The Thunder men's soccer team won its 10th straight match on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Millikin Big Blue. With the victory, Wheaton improves to 12-2 on the season and remains undefeated away from Joe Bean Stadium (7-0). Millikin falls to 5-6-1 with the loss and 0-2 in CCIW play.

Wheaton held a 20-7 advantage in shots in the match including an 11-3 edge in the second half. Wheaton had six corner kick opportunities while Millikin had none. Matt Paprocki allowed one goal and made one save in picking up his 11th win of the season in goal. Daniel Sinclair made 13 saves and allowed three goals for the Big Blue.

The visiting Thunder cracked the scoreboard early in the match when Jordan Golz scored his fourth goal of the season on an assist from Marshall Hollingsworth 8:13 into the match. Wheaton dominated the chances for the remainder of the half as Sinclair made six saves for the Big Blue to keep the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.

Millikin seized an opportunity early in the second half and ultimately found the equalizer when Matthew Briars capped a Millikin surge with his first goal of the season off an assist from Zach Solorio and Nick Abel at the 48:49 mark. Sinclair was able to hold the Millikin momentum as the Big Blue successfully defended a series of Thunder corner kicks in the middle of the half but finally it was Wheaton's leading scorer who provided the game-winning tally. Stephen Golz' ninth goal of the season doubled as Golz' team-high fourth game-winning goal of the season. Hollingsworth again assisted on the goal.

Hollingsworth offered up Wheaton's insurance tally early in the 72nd minute when he found Adam Blackman who put it in the back of the net to give Wheaton the 3-1 lead. With the three assists, Hollingsworth now has a team-high six assists this season. Sinclair turned away several more Thunder chances in the waning minutes of the game to keep the final score at 3-1.

Wheaton will next be in action on Wednesday, October 15, when the Thunder travel north to take on the Carthage Red Men at 7 PM.

Note Worthy: Wheaton's 10-game win streak is the program's longest since a 39-game win streak over the cours of the 1997 and 1998 seasons, a streak that stood as an NCAA record and was part of Wheaton's NCAA-record 66 game unbeaten streak...this is Wheaton's ninth win streak of 10 or more matches in program history, which dates back to 1935...the 10-game win streak is the sixth-longest win streak in program history....Wheaton also won 10-straight games 1993 and again in 1995.
