Platteville, Wis. - The tenth-ranked Thunder men's soccer team earned its eighth consecutive victory on Wednesday night with a 4-2 win at UW-Platteville. Wheaton jumped out to a quick lead in the early minutes and never looked back en route to improving its record to 10-2 on the season. Wheaton is now 6-0 in road games this season. The Thunder return to Joe Bean Stadium on Friday night for a 7 PM matchup with Elmhurst to kick off the conference schedule. The Pioneers fall to 4-5-3 with the loss.
Matt Paprocki allowed two goals and made one save in the win for the Thunder. Scott Sibik made six saves and allowed four goals for the Pioneers. Wheaton outshot the hosts 18-5 with a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. Each team had three opportunities on corner kicks.

Jordan Golz to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead just 4:42 into the match. For Golz it was his team-leading fifth assist of the season. Wheaton continued to dominate the opening stanza and finally added a second goal to its lead late in the half when
Brendan Finnerty drove a pass over the defensive line to a running
Jordan Golz who chipped the ball over the oncoming keeper for his third goal of the season in the 39th minute.
The Thunder found success on an early second half set piece to run the lead to 3-0. Just two minutes into the second half,

Stephen Golz above the traffic in front of the net and Golz headed the ball in for his team-high eighth goal of the season. After being held without a shot for the entire game, the Pioneers found the back of the net with their first effort on net when Andrew Muchowski scored in the 50th minute to cut the lead to 3-1.
Sibik made several big saves through the middle stages of the second half to keep UW-Platteville in the Pioneers to make things interesting with an 84th minute goal by Mbodje Sarr that cut the Thunder lead to 3-2. With the Pioneers pushing forward for the potential equalizing goal, Wheaton capitalized on the counter attack and
Max Carey provided an insurance goal in the final minute off an assist from
Cole Lenderink to provide the final score of 4-2.
Wheaton returns home to Joe Bean Stadium on Friday night when the Thunder host the Elmhurst Bluejays in the CCIW-opener for both teams at 7 PM.
Note Worthy: UW-Platteville's first goal of the night was the first goal allowed by the Thunder since a late first half goal in their game at Montclair State on September 13, a streak of 460 minutes and 57 seconds.
