#1-Thunder women's soccer team tops Alma College, 4-2

GAME STATS Alma, Mich. – The Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 4-2 win at Alma College on Tuesday afternoon. Wheaton, ranked number-one in the NSCAA Division III Coaches Poll for the second week in a row, improves to 6-0-0. The Thunder will travel to third-ranked Washington University of St. Louis on Saturday afternoon for a 1 PM contest against the Bears.

Wheaton took the early 1-0 lead in today's win against Alma College when Sydney Sharkey scored in the 20th minute. Alma tied the matches when Taryn Handyside scored in the 35th minute to square the match at 1-1. Thunder senior Leah DeMoss netted her first goal of the season just 20 seconds after Handyside's goal to give Wheaton a 2-1 lead. Wheaton led the Scots 2-1 at halftime.

Sophomore Ally Witt extended Wheaton's lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 76th minute. DeMoss registered her second goal of the match in the 80th minute to give Wheaton a 4-1 advantage. Alma's Kailey Vlug scored in the 87th minute to account for the 4-2 final score.

Wheaton out-shot the Scots 13-4 in the first halftime and the Thunder had an 11-10 edge in the second half. The guests out-shot Alma 24-14 for the match. Wheaton owned an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Kelsey Graham made five saves and allowed two goals in 90 minutes of action in the Thunder net. Alma netminder Julie Debus made nine saves and allowed four goals in the match.
