GAME STATS 2 Rock Island, Ill. – The Thunder softball team split a CCIW doubleheader at Augustana College (20-10/5-5 CCIW) on Tuesday afternoon. The host Vikings earned a 4-2 win in nine innings in the first game and Wheaton was a 4-1 victor in the nightcap. Wheaton, now 14-11 on the year and 3-5 in CCIW play, is scheduled to host North Central on Thursday at 3 PM.
The Thunder earned a 4-1 victor in Tuesday's second game at Augustana as Wheaton scored four runs, on 12 hits, with one error and Augustana plated one run, on eight hits, with one error. Thunder starting pitcher
Danielle Schmidt (8-3) earned the win in seven innings as she allowed one run, on eight hits, with four walks and four strikeouts.
Katie Yergler (PICTURED LEFT) was 3-for-4 with a double.

Lyndsey Pritchard and
Alyssa Leonard each went 2-for-3 at the plate in the game. Leonard hit a triple, with two RBI and she scored a run.
Augustana scored one run in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Wheaton countered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead. Leonard hit a two-run triple in the inning and Pritchard (PICTURED RIGHT) connected with a RBI-single to highlight the big inning for the Thunder.

Katie Thornton (4-4) took the loss in 8-1/3 innings. Thornton allowed four runs, on nine hits, with five strikeouts and four walks. Pritchard was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Thunder.
The Thunder scored the game's first run in the top of the sixth inning when
Christina Sandstedt hit a RBI-single to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead. Augustana countered in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs to take a 2-1 lead. A RBI-single by Thornton in the top of the seventh inning tied the game at 2-2. The game went into extra innings; however, the Vikings scored two runs on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Augustana the 4-2 victory.
