GAME STATS 2 Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder softball team hosted Hope College (8-8) for the first home doubleheader of the 2013 season on Thursday afternoon. Hope was a 5-3 victor in game one and the Flying Dutch won the second game 6-1. Wheaton is now 7-3 on the year and will host Lake Forest College on Saturday at 1 PM in a doubleheader at Ruth Leedy Field.
Hope won the first game 5-3 as the visitors scored five runs, on nine hits, with one error and Wheaton plated three runs, on eight hits, with two errors. Thunder starting pitcher
Danielle Schmidt (4-1) took the loss in seven innings of work as she allowed nine hits, with four strikeouts and six walks.

Katie Yergler was 3-for-4 at the plate, with a run scored and a RBI.

Alyssa Leonard was 1-for-2, with a run scored and a walk.
