Allendale, Mich. – The Wheaton Thunder wrestling team competed in a dual match against Alma College on Thursday night. Through seven matches Wheaton led the Scots 16-11; however, Alma won the last three matches to close out the match with a 23-16 victory for the Scots. The match was hosted at Allendale High School, the alma mater of Wheaton's Taylor Gohn and Alma's Jared Groeneveld.

The dual match opened at 197-pounds, with Wheaton's Mitch Steed winning a 4-3 decision against Trevor Maresh. Gohn pinned Alma's Andrew Ackerman 2:51 into their match at 285-pounds. Thunder freshman Jared Fekete won an 8-2 decision against Alma's Casimer Strzynski at 141-pounds. Mark Savenok defeated Caleb Huff in a 13-5 major decision to earn Wheaton's fourth win.

The Thunder will host Elmhurst on Tuesday November 19 at 7 PM in the first home match of the season for Wheaton.
