Lisle, Ill.- The ninth-ranked Thunder men's soccer team played its second match in as many days on Thursday, earning a 2-0 victory at Benedictine University. Tonight's match was originally scheduled to be played on September 18; however, it was rescheduled due to lightning on the original date. Wheaton is now 11-3-1 with tonight's win against the Eagles and the victory is Wheaton's fifth consecutive shutout, the longest streak of consecutive shutouts for the program since
2002.
Wheaton opened its hectic stretch of three matches in four days on Wednesday with a 3-0 win at home against UW-Platteville and followed it up with tonight's victory. The busy four-day streak is scheduled to conclude on Saturday when the Thunder hosts Illinois Wesleyan at 7 PM on Senior Night for Wheaton.

Josh Clark put the Thunder on the scoreboard when he took a shot from 30-yards away from the goal that snuck in just under the crossbar in the 21st minute. Wheaton out-shot the Eagles 8-2 in the first half and maintained the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Stephen Golz (PICTURED LEFT) scored his team-best 11th goal of the season in the 61st minute to extend the guests lead to 2-0. Golz blasted in a shot from the top corner of the 18-yard box give the Thunder the insurance goal. Wheaton continued to dominate the pace of the match in the second half, with a 10-2 advantage in shots.

Matt Paprocki played all 90 minutes in net for the Thunder, making two saves to record his third shutout of the season. Benedictine netminder Reed Zorohn made five saves and allowed two goals. Wheaton owned an 18-4 advantage in shots and had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
