Elmhurst, Ill.- The Thunder women's basketball team wrapped up their first tour though the CCIW on Wednesday night with a 67-52 victory over the Elmhurst Bluejays at R.A. Faganel Hall. Wheaton dominated the intangibles in the game outscoring Elmhurst 15-3 in second chance points and 16-5 off turnovers while also dominating the paint with a 36-14 edge. With the win, Wheaton hits the halfway point in the conference with a record of 14-3 and 5-2 in the CCIW. Elmhurst falls to 9-9 and 3-4 in the CCIW.
Elmhurst jumped out to a 10-5 lead before the Thunder ran off a 9-0 run to take retake the lead at 14-10. The Bluejays would battle back to tie the game at 20 apiece before the Thunder closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 28-22 halftime lead.

The Bluejays cut the lead down to 28-26 right after the break, but Wheaton would put the game out of reach thanks to a 23-3 run over a span of ten minutes and three seconds to take their biggest lead of the night at 51-32. Elmhurst would cut the lead back down to 14 points in the waning minutes but
Lauren Graham closed the game with a pair of buckets to account for the 67-52 victory.
Wheaton shot 44.1% (30-68) from the field and 30.8% (4-13) from the three-point line while going just 3-7 from the foul line. Elmhurst shot 34.8% (16-46) from the field and 46.2% (6-13) from beyond the arc. The Bluejays were 14-21 from the charity stripe.
Olson led Wheaton with a game high 19 points while Zeller chipped in a career high 18 points on 9-11 shooting.
Maria Panaggio (PICTURED RIGHT) had a team high nine rebounds to go with seven points and five assists.
Wheaton will start the second half of their conference schedule on Saturday night when they host North Central(10-8, 3-4 CCIW) at 5 PM. Wheaton won the first matchup 106-67 in Naperville.
