Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder wrestling team hosted the Wheaton Duals on Saturday afternoon inside Wheaton's King Arena. Concordia University (Wis.) defeated Wheaton 26-20 in the first session on Saturday. CCIW rival North Central topped Wheaton 23-19 in the second session. Wheaton closed out the day by defeating Manchester College 30-21 in the final session of the day. Wheaton is now 4-6 in dual matches this year following today's performance. The Thunder will travel to Augustana on Friday Jan 25 for a dual match against the Vikings.
In Concordia's victory against the Thunder in the opening session, the Falcons won the first four matches to jump out to a 22-0 lead. However, Wheaton won five of the final six matches in the duals, to cut the guests' eventual lead 26-20.

The Wheaton-North Central match started similar to the first Thunder match of the day as North Central won the first four matches to take a 19-0 lead. Wheaton again won five of the final six matches in the eventual 23-19 win for the Cardinals.

Mitch Steed rounded out Wheaton's six wins in the contest against the Spartans.
Savenok, McCrary, Olsen, Faber (PICTURED LEFT) and Steed each went 3-0 on the day. Savenok earned his 3-0 record at 157-pounds with a technical fall, a major decision and a decision. McCrary picked up two wins at 174-pounds by fall and a third by technical fall. Olsen won two matches at 184-pounds by technical fall and a third in a decision. In posting his 3-0 record at 184-pounds, Faber won two matches by decision and picked up a victory by a fall. Steed was 3-0 at 285 points with three wins by decision.
