Chicago, Ill. – The Wheaton men's soccer team opened CCIW play on Saturday night at North Park University in the CCIW opener for both teams. The match ended in a 3-3 draw after two overtimes. All six of tonight's goals were scored in the final 20 minutes of the second half in a flurry of action for both squads.
The Thunder took a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute as Wheaton sophomore
Adam Blackman put the ball into the near side of the net off of a free kick. Blackman alertly kicked the ball at the goal once play resumed for his free kick, catching the Vikings off guard for the score. Wheaton was awarded a corner kick in the 74th minute and

Elliot Borge who blasted in a shot from about nine yards away that was deflected into the goal to give the Thunder 2-0 lead.
The Vikings reached the scoreboard with a goal by Mike Herbst in the 77th minute. North Park equalized the score in the 80th minute on a goal by Filip Lindmark. Senior
Dan Pavlak headed the ball into the goal off of an Anthony corner kick in the 84th minute as Wheaton regained the lead with a 3-2 edge. North Park's Jonas Peterson scored with 30-seconds left in regulation to tie the contest at 3-3 and send the match into overtime.
Both teams had opportunities in the overtimes, including two shots on goal for the Thunder in the final 30-seconds of the second overtime and a Wheaton corner kick in the concluding 10-seconds.
Wheaton out-shot the Vikings 22-18. Wheaton was awarded five corner kicks and North Park had four. Thunder goalkeeper
Ryan Seager made nine saves and allowed three goals. Viking netminder Tim Ahlberg made nine saves and allowed the three Thunder goals.
North Park is now 4-2-3 on the year, with a 0-0-1 CCIW record. Wheaton is 6-3-2 for the season, with a 0-0-1 mark in league play.
