Decatur, Ill. - The Wheaton College softball team dropped a pair of games to Millikin University 3-0 and 4-1 on Saturday.
The Thunder fall to 21-15 overall and 3-7 in the CCIW. The Big Blue improve to 19-13, 7-3 in conference.
In game one, Millikin's pitcher Lauren Kitterman kept Wheaton off the scoreboard all game. The righty threw a shutout, only allowing three hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
The hosts scored two runs in the third inning on an RBI double and single. The Big Blue added another in the fourth inning on a double to account for the final 3-0 score.
Ainsley McCullough absorbed the loss in six innings of work, surrendering four hits, three runs, two walks and struck out four.

Wheaton got ahead right away in game two.
Lesley Guenard drew a two-out walk in the first inning and came around to third base on a pair of wild pitches. Teuben then drove her in with a single.
Millikin took the lead with two runs in the third inning coming on a leadoff solo homer and an RBI single. The Big Blue played some more long ball in the fifth inning by hitting a two-run homer.
Wheaton's
Danielle Schmidt was the losing pitcher. The junior's line included six hits, four runs, four walks and three strikeouts. The Thunder offense knocked six hits total as Schmidt was 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Thunder next travel to Elmhurst College for a 3 PM doubleheader on Wednesday.
