GAME STATS Claremont, Calif. – The Wheaton College women's basketball team picked up its third consecutive victory on Saturday night with a 79-43 win at Pomona-Pitzer. Wheaton is now 7-1 on the year and will travel to Rockford College on December 14.
Brooke Olson led the Thunder with 22 points, five assists and four steals.
Ellie Zeller scored nine points, with three assists.
Lauren Graham scored eight points and
Maris Hovee grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Wheaton shot 46.5% (33-71) from the field, with 36.4% (8-22) from three-point range and 55.6% (5-9) at the charity stripe. Pomona-Pitzer shot a 29.8% (14-47) field goal percentage, with 20% (2-10) from behind the three-point arc and 76.5% (13-17) at the free throw line. Wheaton out-rebounded Pomona-Pitzer 45-29 with an 18-8 edge on the offensive glass.
The Thunder led by as many as 16 points in the first half and Wheaton held a 34-23 lead at halftime. Wheaton out-scored the Sagehens 19-4 over the first nine minutes of the second half to increase the Thunder lead to 53-27 with 11 minutes left in the game. Wheaton's largest lead of the game was a 38-point bulge at 79-41 with 1:25 left in the game.
Maria Weyhrauch led the Sagehens with eight points, five rebounds and four blocked shots. Ruthie Shapiro tied Weyhrauch with eight points and she added five rebounds.
