RESULTS
Milwaukee, Wis.- The Thunder swim team opened a busy weekend by dropping a dual meet at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday evening. The Wheaton women lost 107-88 while the men fell 113-79.
The Thunder men were led by
Wills Francis who recorded their only event victory. Francis claimed the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a 22.32 while Timothy Walker finished second in 22.51 seconds. Walker was second in the 100-freestyle as well with a time of 50.15. #Dave Brown was third with 50.28. Dave Brown calimed second in the 100-yard breastroke, holding off teammate
Devon Van Beek at the finish. They finished with 1:04.10 and 1:04.62.
Jon Lait and
Nick Pulgine came in second and third in the 400-yard individual medley with times of 4:20.82 and 4:25.94. Lait and
Mark McLaughlin came in second and third in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:00.19 and 1:02.84.
Korey Clement continued his strong start with a second place showing in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 4:54.22. Pulgine came in third with 4:58.90.
The Wheaton women claimed three event championships in the meet with
Kirsty Nitz winning two of them. Nitz won the 100-yard butterfly by three seconds with a time of 56.34 and also won the 200-yard free style with a time of 1:53.74.
Katie Deysher won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:42.15.
Jamie Walitsch took second in the 400IM wiht a 4:49.07.
The women also claimed seven runner-up spots including the 400-yard medley relay of Nitz, Deysher,
Chelsey Long and
Marcey Wennlund who finished three seconds back with a 4:08.92.
Sarah Pankratz took second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a tight race. Pankratz finished less than a second out off the pace with a time of 10:56.47.
Emma Rogers was second in the 100-yard backstroke, barely holding off
Carlie Herich with a time of 1:04.23. Rogers was also second in 100-yard breststroke with a 1:12.84.
Amanda MacLurg was runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing seconds ahead of Pankratz and notching a 5:19.63.
Kelly Ormond was second in the 50-yard freestyle, recording a time of 26.17. Ormond finished seconds behind
Sarah Coley in the 100-yard freestyle as Coley finished in 53.92 and Ormond came in in 56.57.
