Softball team returns to CCIW Tournament for the first time since 2002

Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College softball team will be participating in this week's CCIW Softball Tournament in Decatur, Illinois. Wheaton is 22-15-1 on the year and 7-7 in conference play. The Thunder will be the fourth-seeded team in the upcoming tournament.

This season marks the first time since 2002 that Wheaton has qualified for the four-team tournament and is the fifth time in school history that the program has participated in the tournament.

Wheaton will face top-seeded Millikin on Thursday May 5 at 2 PM in the opening game of the tournament for both teams. The tournament is slated to begin at noon on Thursday as third-seeded North Central will face second-seeded Carthage.

Millikin will be hosting the tournament at Borg Warner Field, which is located at 2201 S. Route 51 in Decatur, Illinois.

Thursday, May 5

Game 1: #3 North Central vs. #2 Carthage, 12 p.m.
Game 2: #4 Wheaton vs. #1 Millikin, 2 p.m.
Game 3: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 4 p.m.
Game 4: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 6 p.m.

Friday, May 6

Game 5: Game 4 loser vs. Game 3 winner, 10 a.m.
Game 6: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 12 p.m.
Game 7: necessary only if Game 5 winner defeats Game 4 winner in Game 6
