Chicago, Ill. – The Thunder swept a doubleheader at North Park on Tuesday afternoon at the Vikings' Holmgren Athletic Complex. Wheaton earned a 3-2 victory in eight innings in the first game and picked up a 1-0 victory in the finale.
Wheaton has now won eight of its last nine games, with a record of 20-13-1 on the year, with a 7-5 mark in CCIW action. North Park is now 16-14 on the year, with a 1-9 CCIW record. Wheaton will host Trinity Christian College on Thursday at 3 PM. The Thunder will close out the regular season on Saturday at 1 PM with a doubleheader against CCIW-leader Millikin that could play a key role setting up the four-team CCIW Tournament that begins the next weekend.

Katie Iser reached two single-season milestones on Tuesday. She collected three stolen bases on the day, giving her 21 on the season to break the school single-season record of 18 set by Gayle Koehler in 1990. Iser also collected two base hits on the afternoon to give her 54 this season, surpassing the 53 hits amassed by Koehler in that 1990 season.
Wheaton won the opening game 3-2 in eight innings as the Thunder scored three runs, on eight hits, with one error and North Park plated two runs, on two hits, with one error. Thunder junior starting pitcher
Ainsley McCullough (8-6) earned the complete game victory in eight innings. She allowed two runs, on two hits, with seven strikeouts. Eight different Thunder players collected hits in the game, as junior
Lesley Guenard drove in a pair of runs in the game.
Guenard hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead in the game. The Vikings responded with a two-run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Guenard hit a RBI-single in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
McCullough was strong in the game, allowing only one hit following the second-inning home run. Wheaton scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning as
Amanda Mattocks hit a one-out double. She advanced to third base on a ground out by
Jenna Lawrenz and scored on a wild pitch with two outs on the next at bat to give Wheaton the lead. McCullough shut down North Park's final three batters in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.

Danielle Schmidt (9-5) earned the victory in seven innings. Schmidt held the Vikings scoreless, scattering eight hits, with 10 strikeouts.
Five Wheaton batters collected one hit in the game, with Iser stealing a pair of bases. A solo home run by Guenard in the fourth inning was enough offense for the Thunder in the game, supported by Schmidt's second shutout of the season.
