Women's basketball rallies for a 61-58 victory at UW-Oshkosh

GAME STATS Oshkosh, Wis. – The Wheaton women's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat UW-Oshkosh, 61-58 Saturday night on the Titans' home court. Wheaton evens its record at 3-3, while UW-Oshkosh takes its first loss and is now 5-1.

The Titans led by as many as 14 points in the first half and the hosts led the Thunder 34-26 at halftime. The Thunder out-scored the Titans 11-2 over the first 4:45 of the second half to give Wheaton a 37-36 lead with 15:15 left in regulation. Wheaton's largest lead of the game was a five-point edge with a 57-52 advantage as 5:30 remained in the game.

The Titans trimmed Wheaton's lead to one point at 59-58 with one minute left. However, a UW-Oshkosh turnover with five seconds remaining forced the Titans to foul Wheaton senior Lindsey Brenneman with two seconds left in regulation. Brenneman made both free throws to extend the Wheaton advantage to 61-58 and the Titans missed a three-pointer as time expired to give Wheaton the victory.

Freshman Lauren Graham scored a career-high 20 points on 10-for-17 shooting from the field. Graham also grabbed seven rebounds, with three steals. Brenneman (PICTURED RIGHT) scored 16 points and Breanna Bohlen added nine points. Elisabeth Potts scored eight points and tied Maris Hovee for the team rebounding lead with nine boards apiece.

Katie Kitzke led the Titans with 17 points and Kelsey Myklebust scored 13 points. Heather Conroy led the hosts with a team-high six rebounds.

Wheaton shot a 44.2% (23-52) field goal percentage, with 33.3% (5-15) from three-point range and 52.6% (10-19) at the free throw line. UW-Oshkosh shot 44.7% (21-47) from the field, with 38.5% (5-13) from behind the three-point line and 64.7% (11-17) at the charity stripe. UW-Oshkosh held a 34-29 rebounding advantage.

The Thunder will travel to Dubuque, Iowa on Monday night for a 7 PM tipoff at Clarke College.
