Oshkosh, Wis. - Led by Justin Marble's undefeated day, the Wheaton College wrestling team picked up its first team win of the season as the grapplers went 1-4 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Duals on Saturday.

The Thunder are now 1-11 in dual matches this year.

Wheaton head coach Jim Gruenwald thought it was a huge weekend overall for several reasons.

"Some of the guys who had been unable to get a college win so far came away with a win," Gruenwald said. "Cameron Fox for instance. He earned both of his wins a few classes above his weight at 174 and 184. The biggest win of the day was Justin Marble's win over Sam Engelland. Marble is not a superstar, but he's the type of solid athlete that will scare some of the top D3 wrestlers. If he keeps it close in the first period, he will come back to get you in the third period and overtime. He's mentally tough and unafraid to get tired. Justin lost to Engelland earlier this year at the Dubuque Duals, so it was good to beat him the second go-round. I see the guys making steady progress, so that tells me our training is right because we keep improving every week."

In the first dual of the day, Milwaukee School of Engineering came away with a 42-7 victory. Wheaton's two wins came via Cameron Fox in a 6-5 decision at 174 pounds and Justin Marble in a major decision 12-4 at 184 pounds.

The next match against Wisconsin-Oshkosh ended with a 49-3 win for the hosts. The lone victory came from Marble, who edged out nationally-ranked Sam Engelland by a 4-2 margin.

Lakeland College also defeated Wheaton 37-10. Matthew Cordell earned a pin at 157 pounds in 3:55 and Marble was an 11-3 victor in his match.

The Thunder broke through against Maranatha Baptist Bible College with a 34-10 win. Five of Wheaton's six weight class victories came via pin from Casey Krahn at 149 pounds, Cordell at 157 pounds, Fox at 184 pounds, Marble at 197 pounds and Jason Geick at Heavyweight. Freshman Matt McCrary also picked up his first collegiate victory 14-3 at 174 pounds.

Wheaton finished its day with a 43-3 loss to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Marble was once again victorious by a 5-0 tally.

The Thunder return home on Tuesday night with a 7:00 PM dual match against University of Chicago.
