Sheboygan, Wis. - The Wheaton College wrestling team ran into tough competition and went 1-3 at the Lakeland Duals on Saturday.

The Thunder were in action for the first time since December 17, but head coach Jim Gruenwald didn't see any drop-off in performance from his wrestlers despite the time off.

"Overall I was happy with our performance," Gruenwald said. "Every week we're getting better. This is a very young team that has a lot to learn. It was our first action after a two-week break and the guys haven't missed a beat. They keep improving."

Justin Marble continued his stellar season and ran his record to 20-5 overall as he won all four matches on Saturday. The junior faced MSOE's Matt Olsen for the fifth time this season and got the 3-2 win. Marble owns a 4-1 advantage in those matches, which have all been decided by three points or less.

Caleb Cardenas and Jon Sesso both went 3-1 and Casey Krahn went 2-2 to highlight Wheaton's effort. Gruenwald added that Sesso had an impressive showing, especially in a close 4-3 loss to nationally-ranked Jacob Frias from Lakeland.

The Thunder return to action at 9:00 AM next Saturday at the Manchester College Spartan Mat Classic.
