Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College men's soccer team shook off a first half deficit and scored twice in the second half to earn the 2-1 victory over University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Tuesday.

No. 23-ranked Thunder improve to 6-2-0 overall while the Pioneers fall to 3-4-1.
In the first half, the Pioneers pressed the attack when the opportunities came and had a 7-1 corner kick advantage in the initial 45 minutes against the Thunder.
Cameron Risma (PICTURED LEFT) gave Wheaton its first great chance to score off a free kick in the 22nd minute, but his blast hit the crossbar to deny him the goal. The Pioneers scored first at 30:59 on a defensive misplay that allowed
Brandon Chmiel to collect the ball on a run and score a bounding left footer from the top of the box while bracketed by two defenders.
The second half saw the Thunder play with renewed vigor and energy. Wheaton pressed the attack with their midfielders decisively, and the benefits showed immediately. After catching the Platteville goalie too far up and out of position, Risma scored on an unassisted ball from 40 yards out to tie the game at the 50:36 mark. It was Risma's first goal of the year.
Another offensive rush in the 69th minute paid dividends.
Matt Swartz (PICTURED RIGHT) picked up his team-leading sixth goal of the season after he knocked a shot off the goalie, collected the rebound and drove the ball into the empty net.
MIcah Lamb picked up the win in goal as he notched a scoreless second half while making three saves. Joe Burki took the loss for Wisconsin-Platteville, allowing two goals with six saves.
For the game, the Pioneers held the shot advantage 16-15 and the corner kicks 9-3.
Wheaton continues its season with a 4:00 PM Friday game at Aurora University.
