Holland, Mich. - In a game that came down to the final shot in the final second, the Wheaton College men's soccer team defeated Hope College 1-0 on Saturday.

The Thunder improved to 3-2-0 with the victory. The Dutchmen fell to 3-1-0. 

Wheaton's offense got on the board first as freshman defender Dan Pavlak (PICTURED) picked up his first collegiate goal in the 16th minute of the first half on an assist from Matt Swartz. 

The Thunder held strong the rest of the way, despite being outshot 10-7 on the day. Late drama unfolded in the final second of the game as Wheaton goalkeeper Kit Carson leaped to make a save as time expired to preserve the win. Carson made two saves in the shutout victory.

The Thunder will continue its season with a 7:00 PM game on Wednesday at home against Dominican University.
