Tim Urbanowicz will return to the Thunder baseball program in 2010 for his senior season, following a junior campaign that saw him become Wheaton's first All-Conference selection at pitcher since 1999 and the first pitcher to be a First Team All-CCIW pick since 1990. Urbanowicz posted an 8-2 record in 2009, earning All-Region honors and tying Wheaton's single-season record for victories. Below is a brief interview with the Thunder hurler.
Q: What is you favorite major league baseball team? Who is your favorite player?
A: I am a New York Yankees fan and Mariano Rivera is my favorite player.
Q: Why did you choose to attend and play baseball at Wheaton?
A: I chose Wheaton because of the quality guys on the team, the focus on God in the program, and the direction the program was headed. And of course it is a great school.
Q: What is your favorite thing about playing baseball at Wheaton?
A: Being able to play with guys who share the love of baseball and of Jesus Christ. I really enjoy our friendships.
Q: What do you appreciate most about playing for coach Driggers?
A: His honesty no matter what the circumstances.
Q: This past year you became the first pitcher from Wheaton to be named First Team All-CCIW since 1990. What was the highlight for you this past season?
A: In the CCIW tournament against Augie. There were two outs, no one on base and we were down two runs in the ninth. We came back to win the game.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a student at Wheaton?
A: The guys on the baseball team.
