Nick Biggee is a junior center for the Thunder football team. Below is a brief interview with the junior.
Q: What is your major at Wheaton?
A: Applied Health Science
Q: Why did you choose to attend and play football at Wheaton?
A: I was looking for a small school environment that could offer a Christian atmosphere. Once I visited Wheaton I realized it was the place for me. I decided Wheaton was for me because the quality of the guys on the team and the importance of faith the coaches demonstrate.
Q: What is your favorite Wheaton football memory in your time with the team?
A: The guys on the team definitely make playing football at Wheaton a unique experience. My favorite memories consist of the stuff that goes on off the field. Various things such as dress-up bowling night and competition night make the experience with these guys incredible. There is something about going to the bowling alley on a Friday night with 70 guys in ridiculous costumes that is unforgettable.
Q: Can you talk a little bit about the experience of advancing to the Semifinals last year?
A: The run to the semifinals last year was an intense journey. Only four teams in the whole country make it to the semifinals and we were blessed to be one of those teams. After the last game of the regular season we weren’t sure if we would make the playoffs and once we made the playoffs there was special buzz in the air.
Q: How many football ministry trips have you been on, what places have you went to?
A: I went on one sophomore year to Senegal.
Q: What was your favorite experience of that trip you have been on?
A: What is so unique about these trips each year is the opportunity to help out former Wheaton alumni in their ministry. Last year in Senegal, we were able to help out former alum, Rodney Duttweiler, with various construction projects on his property. It was such an honor for me to be able to work side by side with people who had given up everything to follow their faith. It was humbling to see the hardships that Christians go through in another country; it was an experience you can’t explain.
Q: What plans, do you have following graduation?
A: I am interested in coaching football. Because of the impact the Wheaton coaches have had on my life, I want to influence other young men’s lives in the same way.
