Nicholas Maruyama returns to the Thunder volleyball team for his third year as an assistant coach in 2020. Maruyama joins the Thunder following three years as the head coach of the Serve City club volleyball team, which competes nationally on the Asics circuit. He also served two years as the Director of the Midwest's largest beach volleyball program, Chicago Sand Volleyball as well as five years coaching club volleyball including the head coach of 630 Volleyball. Maruyama additionally has experience as a High Performance Coach for USA Volleyball, including the A3 and A3 Indoor programs and Future Select National Training Program. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Maruyama served as the captain of the NIU men's club volleyball team during his tenure with the Huskies.
