The 2024-25 season will be Kirsten Madsen’s first as an assistant coach for the Thunder women's basketball team.

Previously, Madsen spent the last three seasons as the top assistant for the women’s basketball team at Illinois Tech University. While at IIT, Madsen helped coach the team to the most conference wins in a season since they joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Madsen is joining her father’s staff after playing four years of college basketball under him at Wheaton College. As a shooting guard, Madsen helped the Thunder achieve three conference championships and four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances over the course of her career. During her last season, Madsen served as team captain and earned a spot on the CCIW All-Conference Second Team. In 2019-20, she also made the program’s record list as the eighth player with 55 three-point field goals made in a single season for Wheaton.

Madsen earned her master’s degree in Sports Administration and Coaching from Concordia University Irvine. She currently lives on the west side of Chicago, where she is also a high school math teacher.
