Joanna Gutkowski joined the Wheaton staff as the full-time Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in the fall of 2022.
Prior to Wheaton, Gutkowski spent eight seasons at Millikin University as an assistant women’s basketball coach. While at Millikin, Gutkowski fulfilled multiple roles including assistant strength and conditioning coach and assistant SID. Before her time at Millikin, Gutkowski spent three years at Manchester University, where she was the Spartan’s top women’s basketball assistant coach and Co-Head Strength and Conditioning coach. Gutkowski also spent one season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at St. Francis University in Joliet, Illinois.
Gutkowski’s collegiate career was played at Millikin University where she was an All-CCIW performer and was named to the D3hoops.com All-American Third Team after her junior season when she helped Millikin University win the national championship. During Millikin’s tournament run, Gutkowski was named to the NCAA Sectional All-Tournament Team and was the Final Four’s Most Valuable Player. Gutkowski is Millikin’s number four all-time rebounder with 796 career boards and the Big Blue’s 16th highest all-time scorer, finishing her career with 1,132 points.
Gutkowski earned her master’s degree from Ball State University. She currently resides in Wheaton with her husband, Chris, and two daughters, Isabella and Skylar.
