Matt Husted completed his 13th year as the head coach of the Wheaton baseball program in 2025.
In his first season in charge of the Thunder in 2013, Husted led the team to a place in the CCIW Tournament for the first time since 2009. His 2014 team recorded a mark of 23-17, and in his third season, Husted was named the 2015 CCIW Coach of the Year and guided the Thunder to a school record for CCIW victories with a 14-7 tally and a second-place finish in the conference standings. In 2016, Wheaton posted its second-highest single season win total in school history and recorded its third-straight 20-win season for just the second time in program history. Wheaton tied its all-time single-season wins record in 2017, posting a record of 24-18 and tying the program-best mark with 14 CCIW victories. The Thunder matched these totals of 24 overall victories and 14 conference wins again two seasons later in 2019.
After guiding the Thunder to an 11-7 record in conference play and the #3 seed in the CCIW Tournament in 2022, Husted was awarded the CCIW Coach of the Year recognition for the second time in his career. Wheaton qualified for the CCIW Tournament again in 2025 as the fifth seed despite being projected to finish eighth in the league.
