Wheaton College Athletics

WFMP - South Africa

JD and Barb Borgman, '64, in the Village of Loskop - WFMP will be visiting Loskop for the seventh season. We will probably have two or three projects at Kwethu. These could be a project to support the garden productivity and a construction project that will support the foster care program for young children. We've had really good feedback in the past from having a project in the community to work on, so we'll be looking for this outreach. We have several areas where we will look to serve.

Rod and Kathy Duttweiler, '87, in Capetown. - In chatting with our partners in the Cape Flats, we are looking at working with a small school that is in its first years of existence. The name of the school is Trinity Children's Center. They hope to have three classes of 15 students each by next Spring. They provide education in an under serviced area of a zone outside of CapeTown. Most of the children come form broken homes and would be considered at risk. The school is associatied with a growing church on the same property and is a real witness to the church serving the community by providing quality education for those who need it.

We have chatted with Renier Coetzee, the school's director. He has a long term plan for building and expansion that includes a new playground set. Below I will attach a sketch an idea of the playground set they are considering. There are opportunities to play with kids at recess. There will be opportunities to pray for people in the community as well.
