2006: Third Team All-Central Region pick by the National College Baseball Writers Association of American...as a pitcher led the CCIW in strikeouts and was fifth in the league in ERA...on the mound had a team-best 2.58 ERA with a 4-2 record and a .197 opponents batting average...named CCIW "Pitcher of the Week" on April 4 as he pitched 6-1/3 shutout innings in a 2-0 win at Illinois Wesleyan, helping the Thunder to its first win against the Titans since 1999...at the plate he hit .336 with 23 RBI and 18 runs scored...hit a home run at University of Chicago...had 14 multi-hit games...3-for-3 with three RBI against Millikin. 2005: Started 25 games before his season was cut short with an injury...named the CCIW "Batter of the Week" for the first week of the season...second on the team with a .354 batting average...had 22 RBI, 24 runs scored, eight doubles and two homers...was 4-for-4 with a home run against Roger Williams. 2004: Played in 16 games, with 10 appearances as a pitcher and nine games at first base...led the Thunder pitching staff with a team-best 4.08 ERA....hit .300 in 40 at-bats, with four doubles, four RBI and two runs scored. High School: First Team All-South Texas, First Team All-Metro and honorable mention All-State as a senior...First Team All-District and All-Bay Area in both his junior and senior seasons...recipient of the team’s "Gold Glove" award as a junior and won the "Extra Effort" award as a sophomore. Family matters: Matt’s brother Mark is a freshman for the Thunder this season.
