Montgomery, Ill. – The Thunder softball team traveled to Aurora University on Monday afternoon for a doubleheader against the Spartans. Today's twinbill was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 but was moved to today due to rain and cold weather in Wednesday's forecast. Aurora won the first game 8-4 and the hosts accomplished the sweep with 4-2 victory in the second game.
The Spartans won the first game, 8-4 as Aurora scored eight runs, on 13 hits, with zero errors and Wheaton played four runs on 10 hits, with three errors. Thunder pitcher
Shylah Dozeman was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Ava Hartnett was 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Aurora scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Hartnett hit a two-run home run single in the top of the second inning to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead. Aurora tied the game with one run in the bottom of the third inning.
Kang hit a RBI-single in the top of the fourth inning as Wheaton took a 3-2 lead. Aurora hit three home runs across the fourth and fifth innings as the Spartans led 8-3 after five innings.
Kennedy Kemp scored a run for the Thunder in the top of the sixth inning to account for the 8-4 final score.
Aurora won the second game 4-2 as the Spartans scored four runs, on eight hits, with zero runs while Wheaton had two runs, on four hits, with one Thunder error. Kemp hit a home run for the Thunder and Kang contributed a double.
Wheaton jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Kang hit a RBI-double in the top of the first inning to drive in Hartnett. Aurora scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to gain a 2-1 lead. The Spartans added a run in the bottom of the third inning and another run in the bottom of the sixth as the hosts took a 4-1. Kemp hit a solo home run for the Thunder in the top of the seventh inning to trim the Spartans' lead to the final score of 4-2.
