Men's track and field opens the 2026 outdoor schedule at North Central events

Naperville, Ill. – The Wheaton men's track and field opened up the 2026 outdoor schedule this weekend with events at North Central College. On Friday, NCC hosted the Distance Fling and on Saturday the First Chance Invitational hosted more events.

At Friday's distance event, freshman Matthias Everest won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:43.33.

On Saturday, sophomore Ty Bova won the men's high jump with an effort of 2.00-meters (6' 6-3/4"). Ben Maher placed third in the javelin throw with a distance of 49.17-meters (161' 4").

Senior Bradley Lauber placed second in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 50.81-seconds, while teammate Dan Sanoussi was fourth in 50.95-seconds. Sophomore Joey Rosenthal placed seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.13-meters.

David Harvin placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.12-seconds. Cohen Oberg finished the 110-meter hurdles in eighth place with a time of 16.81-seconds. Oberg also placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.38-meters (20' 11-1/4").

SCHEDULE NOTE: The Wheaton Invitational track meet that had been scheduled for Thursday, April 2 is being moved up to Tuesday, March 31 due to weather concerns for April 2. Throwing events will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Wheaton's Lawson Field. Running events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the 400-meter relay.
