Tatum Thurstone receives the award for the first time in her career. She joins senior teammates
Sophie Dew (March 3) and
Madeline Gentry (Sept. 17) in earning the women's tennis Student-Athlete of the Week distinction for the Thunder in 2025-26.
Wheaton played three matches last week in Florida as Thurstone compiled perfect 3-0 records at both No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles alongside teammate
Madeline Gentry.
Thurstone recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win against Minnesota-Morris in singles competition to open the week. Last Thursday against St. Mary's (Ind.) she was a 6-4, 6-4 victor in singles play. She rallied to post a 6-4, 6-4 decision in her favor in Wheaton's match against Saint Mary's (Ind.), and wrapped up the week 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles in Wheaton's matchup against St. Norbert College.
Thurstone and and Gentry earned 6-0 victories at No. 1 doubles in the matches against Minnesota-Morris and St. Norbert. The duo picked up a 6-1 victory against St. Mary's (Ind.).
Wheaton returns to action on March 27 when it is scheduled to host Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park.
